Letter To Judges
Dear Respected Judges,
I first want to thank you for taking the time out of your stressful schedules and coming to help judge. My name is Zayd Tanbour and I am a senior at Michigan Islamic Academy. I am pursuing the medical field and hope to major in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCN) at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Ever since I was a kid, I have been interested in the human body and especially in dealing with emergency medical situations. In the coming years, I hope to even attain an EMT certificate or become First-Aid certified. For my senior project, I have decided to study the effect of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) on football players and how modern football helmets can be remodeled to better protect the brain. Throughout the entirety of my life, I have been involved in sports. From basketball to soccer, to even ping pong, I have played and enjoyed so many sports. The reason why I chose my topic is to challenge the misconception that science and sports are unrelated and to bring light to safety in sports. I conducted extensive research on this notorious brain disease and learned remarkable facts about the human brain. Using mechanical engineering processes, I was able to devise a helmet that absorbs almost all impact to the head and keeps players safe. Ever since, I have gained a greater appreciation for science and the field of medicine. Once again, I thank you for coming out and judging our senior projects and hope to impress you! It truly is an honor and I applaud you for your effort. Sincerely, Zayd Tanbour |
